Dr. Nonita Gangwani

Dr. Nonita Gangwani has always seen the world through an artist's eyes. From childhood, she painted — quietly, joyfully, with an instinct for colour and form that no classroom could teach.

Life took her into medicine, where she became a passionate teacher of Physiology, shaping young doctors with the same devotion she once gave to her canvases. At present, she is Assistant Professor, Department of Physiology, University College of Medical Sciences.

Then disability intervened — and for a time, the brush fell silent. She has a locomotor disability due to multiple sclerosis. It was HeadMouse — an assistive technology that tracks head movement as a pointer — that returned the canvas to her.

Today, Dr. Gangwani creates remarkable digital paintings entirely within MS Paint, guided only by the movement of her head. Each work is a quiet act of defiance: against limitation, against silence, against the idea that creativity has a single form. She paints whatever she feels like — there is no specific genre. She is also an avid speaker at various disability forums.
